Principal's Welcome Letter

Greetings Evergreen Families,

As principal of Evergreen Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the 2022-2023 school year. Of course, it is our intention to help every child feel welcomed, connected, and a part of the Mustang community. Families, too. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student to grow his or her academic abilities and to be future-ready.

Please see the school’s web page at https://evergreen.mead354.org/ for our Mission and Vision, but know that we live our Promise daily: Engage! Empower. Encourage!

In our culturally, ethnically, and economically diverse community, here at Evergreen, we have amazing teachers who spend countless hours planning and creating classroom activities to engage our students in their learning. Our teachers utilize research-based best practices and academic data through assessment to empower students to set and reach their goals for growth and improvement.

Qualifying Mustangs benefit from Resource Room support, resources of a Developmental Learning Center, and LAP (Learning Assistance Program). We are a full-school Title I building, meaning all of our 450 plus students benefit from additional resources, staffing, and equipment. We embrace our Title designation and the opportunities it affords.

Our first day of school is Tuesday, August 30, 2022, from 9:00AM - 3:20PM. Students eating breakfast will enter the school cafeteria via the east side cafeteria door 15 minutes before the bell at 8:45.  Bells ring and school begins at 9:00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Breakfast will be served at 9:25 on Late Start Wednesdays.  School begins at 9:40 on Wednesdays to allow for teacher collaboration.

Although most of our students begin their school year on August 30 at 9:00, the Kindergarteners do not begin until after Labor Day on Sept. 6 at 9:00.

Please see the PTO calendar at https://www.evergreenpto.com/ for the many events planned for the year. Consider joining a PTO meeting the third Tuesday of every month at school in the library from 6:30-8:00.  We would love to have you.

The Evergreen staff is happy to welcome back all of our Mustangs, and as we do, we will continue to regard the health and safety of our students, teachers, and staff as our highest priority.

Let’s make it another great year at Evergreen Elementary School!

Sincerely,
Mike Danford, Evergreen Principal
